Western Australia will host this year’s National Lay Preachers’ Conference. The conference, Mandjar – which is Nyungar for ‘the meeting place’ – will be a space for all those involved in lay leadership and preaching to be enriched and inspired.
The Uniting Church in Australia is saddened to announce the death of the late Rev Ian Tanner who passed away Friday 27 December 2013.
Ian was a past President of the Uniting Church in Australia Assembly from 1985 to 1988 and served as the first Moderator of the Synod of South Australia from 1977-1979.
Three members of the Uniting Church in WA have been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), announced this Australia Day.
An Intercultural Leadership Training Course will be held over seven Friday evenings from February – April, providing seven keys for successful leadership. Brought to you by the Multicultural Ministry of the Uniting Church in WA, the course will be on the theme of ‘living between cultures’ and each session will take place at Fremantle Wesley Uniting Church, Cantonment St, Fremantle.
Errol was born in England in 1933 to an English father and an Australian mother. The family returned to Perth when Errol was 14 months old. In 1949, John Phillipson was appointed assistant minister to Victoria Park, Carlisle and Welshpool as a home missioner. Errol and John became friends and that friendship developed into a lifelong partnership of marriage.
Fred Stone, a member of Mt Pleasant Uniting Church is launching his autobiographical sketch, A Spark of Madness with a foreword by Graham Mabury. Fred, now retired, was a psychiatric nurse, senior pastor at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church for over 15 years, established the Baptist Counselling Service and managed Lifeline Counselling for two years.
A Spark of Madness will be launched at Mt Pleasant Uniting Church, cnr Reynolds and Coomoora Rds, 3.00pm on Saturday 15 March – the 60th anniversary of the day Fred became a Christian and met his wife, Pauline.
