The original Taizé community is an ecumenical monastic community in Taizé, France, of Christians committed to a life of simple service. There are now Taizé communities around the world consisting of people who devote their lives to living amongst those they serve.
Each year, Taizé in France attracts young people from all over the globe to volunteer and worship with the community. Many church leaders also make the journey to experience life in this unique place. This year, Br Matthew, from the Taizé community, will be visiting Perth from 3–6 March and attending a number of events inspired by Taizé worship.
A candlelit rooftop service for young adults will be held on Friday 4 March, 6.30pm, at St George’s Anglican Grammar School in Perth. And a day retreat will be held on Saturday 5 March, 11.00am–5.00pm, at Mount Pleasant Uniting Church, for people aged 15–35. A prayer service will also be held on 5 March at 7.00pm.
