Western Australia will host this year’s National Lay Preachers’ Conference. The conference, Mandjar – which is Nyungar for ‘the meeting place’ – will be a space for all those involved in lay leadership and preaching to be enriched and inspired.
Under the theme of ‘one calling, many responses,’ participants will be engaged in sessions and workshops with a range of discussion leaders. Presenting will be Nancy Ault on the landscape of the soul; Rev Prof Bill Loader on same sex relations: a first century perspective; Rev Dr Geof Lilburne on what mission? What next? and Rev Dr Ian Tozer on cultivating inspiration for preaching.
Celebrating the diversity of the Uniting Church, workshops will also be held on worship and preaching in languages other than English, as well as time for reflection and networking.
Mandjar will be held from Saturday 5 to Monday 7 April at the Mandurah Conference Centre. For more info contact Doug Burtenshaw on 0409 111 073 or at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit http://unitingchurchwa.org.au/education/cedal/mandjar-2014/.
